It's About Grooming, Love And Hope.

The Grooming Project opened in 2016 in the heart of Kansas City to help struggling parents find meaningful careers. By coupling training in the trade of professional pet grooming with comprehensive support services, the program has become an unexpected solution to the many problems that plague families living in poverty.

To date, 99 students have graduated from the program, with 100% finding living wage employment upon graduation. 

156 Hearts. 2 States. 1 Heartland.

The Parade of Hearts public art experience placed 156 beautifully created, 5’ heart sculptures throughout the Kansas City region. The experience ran from early spring to mid-summer 2022. Through sponsors, donations, merchandise and auctions of the hearts, Parade of Hearts raised $2.56 million to help those most affected by the events of the pandemic and helped unite the Heartland in a way that only art can.

Rightfully Sewn developed its mission to meet the need of individuals for stable, well-paying jobs to secure financial independence, and the need of local fashion industry businesses for skilled seamstresses to expand their operations. Through skills training that provides a path to employment and various strategies to foster a well-connected, efficient fashion design and manufacturing community, Rightfully Sewn is laying a path to a contemporary version of Kansas City's 20th-century golden era of garment design and manufacturing.

United WE is a non-partisan nonprofit that advances all women’s economic and civic leadership through research, advocacy, and policy solutions.

We have conducted 22 meaningful research studies and advocated for issues resulting in 51 policy actions are advancing equal pay, paid family leave, affordable childcare, occupational licensing, and more.

HOMES OF THE BRAVE

We are Veterans Community Project, a team of connectors, feelers, and doers on a mission to help our kin: those who raised their right hand and took the oath to protect our Constitution. We move with swift, bold action, motivated by the sacred rule of leave no one behind. Armed with the strength and support of the community, VCP not only provides homes with dignity but connects Veterans experiencing homelessness with the life-changing support services needed to return to a stable, prosperous, independent life.

Since 2016, we’ve had our brothers’ and sisters’ backs because Kansas City has had ours. VCP Village, a specialized community of 49 tiny homes, and the walk-in Veterans Outreach Center are privately funded by individuals who have taken another oath: to serve those who served us. Help rewrite a Veteran’s story and be part of a mission dedicated to ending Veteran homelessness across the nation.

WeCode exposes underestimated youth to technologies and marketable skills to increase the number of minorities in technology, increase economic growth and close the wealth gap.

Cops, Kids, Community.

The Police Athletic League of Kansas City, KS is a community-based non-profit located in the urban core of Kansas City, KS. We provide a safe, supportive environment for youth ages 18 and under to engage in constructive, positive, healthy ways with police officers, other members of the community, and each other. Our goal is to connect cops, kids and community.

All PAL programs are free: from driver’s education to fitness and boxing to gun safety to art to gardening.
